Rachael Yamagata

Three years after she began to appear on the public's radar when songs from her self-titled debut EP and full-length album Happenstance turned up in several films and television shows, singer/songwriter Rachael Yamagata released Record In Two Parts...Elephants and Teeth Sinking Into Heart. The nine tracks on Elephants are darker and more vulnerable than the five gritty, defiant rock songs on Teeth Sinking into Heart. Taken together, the two halves present a complete timeline of the emotions that revolve around doomed relationships and the accompanying fallout.

"Delicate piano and acoustic guitar melodies lay across strings and muffled beats, while her smoky voice mourns lovers who leave at a bad time and return at a worse one. Add some cheap scotch and you've got a John Cassavetes movie." – SPIN
