Mixing is tough enough under ideal conditions, but home and project studios with less than questionable acoustics can make it especially hit-and-miss, no matter how good your monitors are. JBL's new MSC1 Monitor System Controller ($375) is the latest of a new category of products designed to tune monitors to compensate for a room's acoustical colorization. The MSC1 connects between a mixer/interface and the speakers, and uses a USB connection, an analysis mic, and Mac/Windows software to analyze and tune for the room.
