Member-driven song rating among major new enhancements to ASCAP's online community
ASCAP has announced major new upgrades to its online community, including: member-driven song rating, powered by Broadjam; streaming audio of the top 20 memberrated songs in each major genre; a new section devoted to ASCAP member announcements; and licensing opportunities, made available through Broadjam.
The community also now has improved searchability, so that a visiting user or music supervisor can find the music they're looking for quickly. Broadjam, a leading provider of online media and voting systems for music industry clients, is taking ASCAP member song rating to the next level with review by members' peers on a blind basis. For each track that a community member wants reviewed, he/she will be asked to compare and rate three tracks from other members /"1st, 2nd & 3rd"). Tracks to be rated are selected and fed automatically, resulting in more reliability and more even coverage.
All community members get a free Broadjam account. ASCAP members get a free "PRO" level account, with extra benefits detailed at the Broadjam site. Results from song rating will drive a continuously-updated Top 20 stream at the center of the community home page, in each of six broad music genres. All community members can participate in song rating. Scores will now be expressed numerically. To qualify for the ASCAP Community Top 20, you need to be an ASCAP member.
Broadjam has a team of professionals on the lookout for music licensing opportunities in TV, film and other media. As a new service to ASCAP community members, Broadjam will post them in the community and give community members a cost-effective way to get their music in front of numerous decision makers. Many ASCAP members have already taken advantage of this service from Broadjam and succeeded in placing their music. This is open to all community members, and, again, ASCAP members get a deep discount.
A new section for member announcements lets ASCAP members post career announcements like premieres, signings and new releases.
The community will continue to evolve with further improvements like these, based on the feedback ASCAP receives from community members. If you have not already done so, visit the community at http://community.ascap.com, and start taking advantage of the opportunities.
