What was your inspiration for “Beamer, Benz, or Bentley” by Lloyd Banks?
Prime Maximus: I usually get inspired by the moment that I'm in. At that time, it was 2007, I was on my way to Asia. I couldn't sleep on the plane because I was excited about being in another country. So instead, I got to work! After chopping a few samples and creating a few beats, “Beamer, Benz, or Bentley” was made.
What are you working on, currently?
Prime: I've been working on a couple of new things. One of them being the re-mix to “Beamer, Benz, or Bentley.” And this joint is going to be crazy; great artists, great music! I think it’s going to be big for 2010. I’m working to get a few more with Lloyd Banks, as well as Juelz Santana, and 50 Cent. Also, I'm working on a project that’s signed to Timbaland and Dr. Dre, which is going to be something that Hip Hop needs.
Where are you from, originally?
Prime: Born and Raised in New Orleans – “Grind City,” home of the 2010 Super Bowl Champs!!!
Who is your musical mentor and why?
Prime: First, God! He gave me this gift and I'm nothing, without him. Second, I would have to say, “music.” I listen to everything and learn from greatness, such as Timbaland, Dr. Dre, and Polow Da Don. I look up to these guys! I didn't have musical teachers growing up, so they were my teachers. Their music always inspired me to be great. Third, the 80's movement. Being from New Orleans, we got to listen to everything coming from the East to West. We took it [the music from the east and west] in and put our lil' flavor to it; we added Blues, Jazz, and we passing it out like a bowl of Gumbo, now.
What was your first introduction into the music industry?
Prime: I would have to say “Beamer, Benz, or Bentley” is my first introduction. “J.I.M.P” by The Lonely Island was a YouTube phenomenon with 80 million views, but I don't feel like I had a part of that record like “Beamer.” I've always been a fan of Lloyd Banks and Juelz; they both play a major role in Hip Hop, so I felt this record was more rewarding, especially considering all the years I've been listening to their music. So, BIG thanks to them. I wish them nothing, but great success in their career.
