ASCAP Members Marc Shaiman and Sammy Nestico Honored with ASMAC’s Top Awards

The American Society of Music Arrangers & Composers (ASMAC) recently held their Annual Golden Score Awards at the Universal Hilton Hotel in Universal City. Hosted by actor/director/producer/writer Rob Reiner, the event was held to honor ASCAP composer Marc Shaiman with the 2010 Golden Score Award and ASCAP member Sammy Nestico with the award for Lifetime Achievement in Arranging.

Legendary songwriter/composer/arranger Nestico was joined onstage by performer Frank Stallone, friend and fellow arranger Gordon Goodwin, and composer/arranger and ASCAP Board member Johnny Mandel. The tribute included performances of some of Nestico’s most recognizable arrangements by Stallone and the Citrus College Blue Note Orchestra.

On hand to present Shaiman with his Golden Score award were close friends and collaborators, including Tony Award-winning Actress Marissa Jaret Winokur, film/TV/Broadway actress and singer Jenifer Lewis, and director/producer/choreographer Adam Shankman. In two of the evening's many highlights, Winokur and Lewis offered special tribute performances to Shaiman. The multi-talented and award-winning composer is a previous recipient of the ASCAP Henry Mancini Award.
