Nashville, TN, June 21, 2010: ASCAP (the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) has announced the appointment of Jessica Draper as Manager, Creative Services for its Nashville branch. Draper was previously Music Editor at Performing Songwriter Magazine. ASCAP has been restructuring its Nashville division to execute a broadened and elevated role as a Regional Office serving all genres of music.
"Jessica's knowledge of the industry on both the creative and business side will prove an immediate asset to our team," said Tim DuBois, VP and Managing Executive of operations at ASCAP Nashville. "I am very pleased to welcome her into the ASCAP family."
Draper began her career in 2005 interning at the independent music publishing company Larga Vista Music, and at music publicity firm Schmidt Relations. She moved to New York City in 2006 and held the post of Public Relations Associate at classical music public relations and artist management firm Kirshbaum Demler & Associates, working on PR campaigns and assisting with the day-to-day management of a large roster of world-renowned artists and organizations. Draper returned to Nashville in 2008 and became Music Editor at the independently published magazine Performing Songwriter, where she worked until the magazine ceased publication in June 2009. Draper is one-half of the singing and songwriting duo Jaden South. She and bandmate Deborah DeLoach released their debut album, Leading the Horse in 2009 and completed a five-month, independent tour at the end of last year. Draper graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in music business.
"I am delighted to join this vibrantly talented creative team and remarkable organization," said Draper. "I have long known ASCAP as one of the foremost advocates of songwriters--and of the interests of the music community as a whole--and I look forward to serving and supporting our writer and publisher members in this capacity."
